Gold prices decreased to reach the price of the 21 carat most traded in the local market, and the price of 21 carat reached 794 pounds per gram.
This comes as a continuation of the continuous decline in the safe haven since the beginning of 2021, as the price of gold decreased by 46 pounds, and 120 dollars since the beginning of this year, which caused a shock to traders.
Amir Rizk, a member of the Jewelers Division of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, confirmed that since the beginning of the year there has been a significant decline in gold prices due to companies earning profits.
Rizk added to Al-Masry Al-Youm that the market was waiting for prices to rise with the start of the Christmas season. However, something happened that no one expected, and everyone was surprised by a big decline since the beginning of the Christmas holidays.
He indicated that prices are expected to rise again during the coming period, especially with the stabilization of the global economic situation, and the vaccination of millions with the vaccine to prevent infection with the Coronavirus.
Rizk explained that the price of an ounce at the beginning of 2022 was 1932 dollars, and today it became 1812 dollars, and the 21 caliber most traded in the local market, it was 840 pounds per gram, and its price today reached 795 pounds.
