The Dream Factory: Heartwarming Moments and Emotional Reunions

Where did we shed a tear?

Hobby chef Rudi died in 2015 after a battle with lung cancer. He left his children Casper and Robin 9 jars of frozen spaghetti sauce, as a consolation for when he would no longer be there. In the end there was only one jar left, so Rudi’s children dreamed of finding out his sauce recipe.

“The Dream Factory” hired none other than television chef Jeroen Meus to decipher the recipe. He expertly studied the spaghetti sauce in a laboratory and recreated it as best he could for Casper and Robin. He did that again during the episode, live in the studio.

On top of that, Meus gave Casper and Robin a very special gift. Rudi’s spaghetti sauce is included in a unique copy of his new cookbook. That made for an emotional moment.

What was the best moment?

Exactly 30 years ago, the Melis family took part in “The Dream Factory”. They were then allowed to go to the car wash without a car, a memory they still regularly recall. In the meantime, their videocassette containing the fragment has been destroyed and the family has many more members, who only know the dream from the many stories.

Bart Peeters therefore paid them a visit and took the family back in time with a recording on a USB stick. However, it didn’t stop there, because the family got the chance to relive their dream. They got dirty and went through the car wash together again, a new memory for any family party.

What was the best dream?

44-year-old Andy was the very first to submit a dream this year. He didn’t hesitate and went for the same dream as his mother 30 years ago. He still really wanted to train with his favorite football team SK Lierse.

Now the time had finally come. Andy looked a bit nervous, but was clearly as happy as a child on his long-awaited training day. As the icing on the cake, he was also allowed to meet his football heroes Gert Verheyen and Jean-Marie Pfaff, who signed his jersey. “The day of my life,” Andy said.

What about last week’s call?

In last week’s episode, 9-year-old Oone talked about her special dream. She wanted more spectators to come to ‘t Kuipke in Ghent to watch the team presentation of the female riders of the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. After all, only one woman was present there last year.

Our call clearly paid off, because this year the Kuipke was well filled. The girl was even allowed to go on stage with her idols, received a jersey from Lotte Kopecky and was allowed to ride in the support car during the ride. “It was the best day of my life so far,” she told Maaike Cafmeyer.

What can you help with?

Maaike Cafmeyer also made a call this episode, because she wants to give all “leap year olds” a fantastic birthday next Thursday. She therefore asks traders to set up promotions to put all those people in the spotlight on their unique day. From Monday you can view all the actions on an interactive map via VRT MAX.

Furthermore, Monique was present again. In the previous episode she started a search for false singers, because she would like to start a false choir. She says she is overwhelmed by the response she has received, but is now still looking for a venue where her choir can rehearse.

Finally, there was host mother Patty, who will soon retire after a 40-year career. The woman from Oudenburg is looking for the approximately 130 children she cared for during her career. She hopes to organize a phenomenal reunion or “Patty drink”.
