For the fourth day there is no trace of the missing snowboarder in Rila Mountain above Blagoevgrad. As early as Tuesday, the missing person’s mobile phone was located in one of the avalanches that fell over the track.
At the moment, the assumptions of the mountain rescuers are that the victim is also buried in it. Due to the bad weather conditions, however, the search for him was stopped.
The avalanche danger in the Kartala area in the Rila Mountains above Blagoevgrad remains extremely high today. Therefore, at the moment it is assumed that there will be no search for the missing 34-year-old snowboarder again today, BNT reported.
However, a group of rescuers from the Mountain Rescue Service will go today to one of the big avalanches that fell in the late afternoon on Sunday. Since the missing person’s mobile phone is located in it, they suggest that he is also there. Rescuers will inspect the site, assess the risk, and then it will become clear whether they will take action to search.
BLITZ recalls that on Sunday a group of skiers and snowboarders go down one of the slopes in the Kartala area. At 4.30 pm they made their last descent, but then one of the group deviated and to this day there is no trace of him.. On Sunday, as well as on Monday, a large action was held with over 30 people, 15 volunteers and 15 mountain rescuers. The action involved various types of equipment, as well as dogs. According to the mountain rescuers, unfortunately there is no chance for the missing snowboarder to be found alive.
