Antonín Panenka received another honor in Austria.

Now in its four-year engagement with Austria’s most successful club, the 71-year-old Panenka has won two championship titles and rejoiced three times in the cup. For Rapid, the creative midfielder, famous for the winning penalty in the final of the European Championships in Belgrade, played 127 matches and scored 63 goals.
Together with Panenka, Austrian stars Toni Polster and Hans Krankl and German legionary Hansi Müller were appointed to the top 11 of the 1980s. Experts appointed Doll’s coach from Rapid Otto Barič as the star selection coach.

The selection of the ideal team of the decade started last year with the ideal eleven of the 70s, next year the best team of the 90s will be selected. The project should culminate in 2024 with the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the Bundesliga.
