The deputy general deputy of Álava announces that she suffers from breast cancer

Pilar Garcia de Salazar, first lieutenant deputy general of Álava and provincial deputy for Economic Development, Innovation and Democratic Challenge of the Provincial Council of Álava, has communicated that it has been diagnosed with a breast tumor in a routine check-up and that he has already undergone the corresponding medical treatment. García de Salazar faces this challenge with strength, and also does so with the encouragement and inspiration that for her constitutes the example of the thousands, millions of women who fight this disease every year around the world, with an increasing rate of success, just as she has assured herself.

García de Salazar will continue to carry out his work, leading his team and participating in the affairs of his responsibility in the Government of the Provincial Council of Álava to the extent that medical treatment allows it, although he will be forced to limit in a way temporary public presence. In addition, he has underlined the vital importance of routine check-ups for the early detection of breast cancer, and encourages all Alava women to carry them out with the recommended periodicity.

Born in 1959, she has a degree in Law from Deusto and a specialist in Basque Studies from the UPV-Eusko Ikaskuntza. She has worked as head of the Private Secretariat of the Lehendakari and as an advisor to the Department of Security of the Basque Government and is, in addition, secretary of the Euzkadi Buru Batzar (EBB) and since 2011 a solicitor in the General Meetings of Álava. She is married and the mother of two daughters and a young Saharawi in foster care.

Pilar García de Salazar is in charge of everything that has to do with technological development, innovation and business competitiveness, economic promotion and business cooperation, logistics development of the territory, industrial and service infrastructures, entrepreneurship or internationalization.
