After the Prosecutor’s Office began the investigation against Carlos Caicedo, Governor of Magdalena, and Rafael Martínez, former Mayor of Santa Marta, neither of them had defended themselves. It was until this morning when both from their Twitter accounts tried to knock down the indications of the prosecutor Francisco Barbosa for possible irregularities detected in the demolition, construction and adaptation contracts of five health centers. Caicedo even warned that he would take the case before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), for lack of guarantees of due process.
In the statement issued by the Prosecutor’s Office, the intention to harm us is noted, first they make an incorrect accusation, also the process is in the trial stage, there can be no extinction if we have not been convicted. We will take this to the IACHR, since they do not give us guarantees. pic.twitter.com/kNZg5izAiU

Although the case was open several months ago and even Martínez had been suspended when he was mayor and Caicedo was detained while he was a presidential pre-candidate, now the prosecutor Barbosa ordered the extinction of the domain of 10 assets. In the midst of their defense, both leaders assured that the process has had several irregularities and that everything is due to a media show by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Fake News and media show of the @FiscaliaColThey accuse us of embezzlement in favor of third parties and now this entity affirms that we enriched ourselves individually. In addition to this, they use a report from two years ago, when today the Health Centers are finished and operational.
