For three days, the assessment of the Coronavirus epidemic has been stable in Touraine. No new deaths and still 14 patients in intensive care.
But should we be worried about these new local sources of contamination which are multiplying elsewhere in France? Professor Louis Bernard, head of the infectious diseases department of the CHRU in Tours is cautious, in particular because of the appearance of “clusters” in the neighboring departments of Loiret (34 confirmed cases of contamination in the company of the Tradival slaughterhouses) and in Maine-et-Loire (18 patients treated at Saumur hospital).
“These clusters are currently under control and during screenings, there are fewer and fewer cases”, specifies Professor Bernard.
The patients currently hospitalized in Tours are rather old, coming in particular from nursing homes _“it’s calm”_ says Louis Bernard, but there are still some concerns in particular at the CHRU de Tours among the staff.
The Head of the Infectious Diseases Department also mentioned research carried out in Touraine, France and internationally on the behavior of the virus in children “these national and international data show that there is practically no transmission between children” summarizes Professor Bernard
Finally, the announcement by Olivier Véran of a “Ségur * de la santé” by the summer, satisfies this head of department who [notamment dans son journal de bord publié tous les jours sur Francebleu.fr] denounced the lack of resources and recognition of hospital staff: “a plan for the hospital is much better than applause or a medal of merit, it is obvious that we must increase the salaries of caregivers, we will have to avoid that in the morning, I arrive and I wonder if my beds are going to be closed, if we’re going to remove a secretary“continues Professor Bernard.
