The death toll in the collapse of the Morbi suspension bridge in Gujarat rises to 91 Many people were injured. More than a hundred and fifty fell into the river. The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the relatives of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the wounded. Interior Minister Amit Shah and Rahul Gandhi expressed sorrow for the incident.

It was reported that around 400 people were on the bridge and in the vicinity when the incident occurred. It has also been reported that many people are still stranded in the river. In this situation, there are fears that the death toll could rise further. The historic bridge, repaired five days ago, collapsed. After repairs, the bridge was opened to the public on October 26, which is considered New Year by the Gujaratists.

After the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned Gujarat Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel to inquire about the details. He ordered an immediate rescue operation. The state government also announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to family members of the deceased. 50,000 each will be donated to the families of the injured. Gujarat Prime Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the funding via Twitter. The Prime Minister joined the Morbi, canceling all official programs on Sunday.
