The death of an Egyptian boxer after the Republic Championship final

The Egyptian Olympic Committee announced the death of young boxer Ramiz Hossam on Wednesday, days after he competed in the final of the Republic Championship in Tanta.

The Olympic Committee said in a statement: “The Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee expresses sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the player’s family, the Egyptian boxing family, and the Egyptian Federation headed by Dr. Abdel Aziz Ghoneim.”

The Olympic Committee did not reveal the cause of the death of the boxer, who lost the final of the Republic Championship for those born in 2006 last week, while the Egyptian Boxing Federation said that he died “as a result of his injury in the Republic Championship.”

And the Egyptian Boxing Federation said that the boxer “got out of the ring while he was completely healthy and went to the dressing room, then an hour later he felt pain in the head and was immediately taken to the hospital.”

“The team of doctors recommended surgery to stop the bleeding,” the statement added.
