The de-escalation is noticeable in the decline in unemployment in May in Aragon | Radio Zaragoza

He registered unemployment in the offices of Public Employment Service in Aragon dropped in mayo in 685 people. Is a drop of 0.86% with respect to April, breaking the trend of catastrophic March and April, despite the fact that unemployment rose again in May in Spain as a whole.

But optimism disappears completely if you compare that data from unemployment in May compared to a year ago: Now in Aragon, there are 78,529 unemployed. Is a 29.31% more than twelve months ago.

That spectacular year-on-year rise, with increases of more than 29%, it is repeated in the three Aragonese provinces, but it affects workers of foreign origin even more: unemployment among this group has risen in the last year in Aragon by 34%.

Of the total of 78,529 current unemployed, almost 58% are women, 42% are men. More than 8,000 are under the age of 25. And the most, more than 70% is concentrated in service sector.

Activity sectors

In this last month of May, the farming and the building they collect the greatest drops in unemployment.

Despite the start of the de-escalation in bars and restaurants, unemployment in the services sector has only dropped by 139 people, well below the drop of 424 in agriculture and 310 in construction. By contrast, unemployment has risen between el group of people without previous employment and, slightly, in the industry.

As to new contracts, in May more than 30,000 were signed. It is 58% more than in April, but 54% less than in May of the previous year. Of the contracts signed this last month, more than 91% were temporary.

At the end of April, 108,629 people received some type of unemployment benefit in Aragon. The expense for these benefits exceeds 123 million euros each month.
