The daily increase in those infected is slowly declining. The stores may open until Christmas, said Havlíček – ČT24 – Czech Television

The growth rate of new cases of the disease in the country is slowing down for several days. On Wednesday, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) stated that according to data on the spread of coronavirus, the Czechia is probably behind the turning point, however, according to him, the number of hospitalized will remain high for some time. As of Tuesday, the ministry had 7,890 patients with covid-19 who required hospital care. The condition of 1133 patients is assessed by doctors as severe.

The number of deaths continues to rise, and since the beginning of November, more than 2,000 people have died in the Czech Republic with coronavirus. According to the Ministry’s data so far, there were 108 deaths on Wednesday, and the number of deaths will usually increase with later updates. The number of dead with a confirmed covid-19 has started to increase significantly, especially since October, and recently almost two hundred people have died daily. The limit of 200 deaths per day was exceeded several times. So far, most people died on the day of November 3, 247.

The highest number of cases is in the Pelhřimov region, the least in Prague

Since the outbreak of the epidemic in the Czech Republic in early March, covid-19 has infected more than 438,000 people, and more than 285,000 have been cured.

The disease is now spreading the fastest in the Pelhřimov region, with 826 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. This is followed by Havlíčkův Brod with 776 recalculated cases.

The best situation is in Prague and in the district of Prague-West, where 231 are infected per 100 thousand inhabitants in the last week. In the capital, 739 cases of covid came on Wednesday. This week is the most so far, but about 170 less than last Wednesday. Seven to 572 casualties.

The stores could open by Christmas, Havlíček said

According to Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havlíček, the current development of the epidemic gives hope that the shops will open in the run-up to Christmas. “There’s a chance he can do it well in advance,” he said. According to him, however, “only a suicide” could promise that the stores will open on December 5 or 10. According to Havlíček, more detailed information on the conditions for dismantling the measures could be presented on Friday by Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES).

The deputy prime minister rejected the claim of pirate senator Lukáš Wagenknecht that the government closed most retail outlets on purpose. According to Havlíček, she only needed to limit the mobility of people and thus prevent the spread of coronavirus.

“You are not the Minister of Industry and Trade, you are the Minister of Liquidation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises,” Wagenknecht said towards Havlíček. According to the senator, with the closure of most stores, people concentrate in hypermarkets, while small traders are in danger of bankruptcy, as the support of 500 crowns per day for closed trades is alms.

Some nursing homes dropped out of the test distribution list

Some social services in the Moravian-Silesian Region still lack kits for comprehensive testing. His first round was supposed to have homes on Wednesday. No one contacted the homes with an explanation.

“We first contacted the health center with which we had a contract (…), then we contacted the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the General Health Insurance Company, we also contacted the regional hygiene,” said Alice Medková, Karviná.

Representatives of the region came out to meet her. They had to find the necessary documents in the register of contracts, which no one had supplied to the region. “We have found that they are not on the distribution list. So I called the ministry and I was told that the tests for these facilities and services would be delivered sometime next week, “said Jiří Navrátil (KDU-ČSL), Deputy Governor of Moravia-Silesia.

However, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (ČSSD), the distribution of antigen tests to social facilities is to be completed by Friday. He stated this after Thursday’s meeting with the governors. “This is important feedback from the governors for the Ministry of Health and the insurance company. It turns out that the distribution is still not one hundred percent. However, we were assured by the Ministry of Health that the delivery plans envisage that it should be completed by Friday, “he said.

Hamáček added that the meeting with the governors concerned practical topics, such as the level of testing. “We are trying to increase mobile sampling teams, firefighters are involved, who have 17 sampling teams. Our aim is to keep that level of testing as high as possible, “he said. The discussion also concerned the distribution of fans and other equipment, which, according to him, is sufficient. “It is up to the Ministry of Health, a decision on lending and distribution will be made in the near future,” he said.

The governors were also interested in whether testing was planned when part of the pupils returned to school. According to Hamáček, the Ministry of Health will inform about it at the Government Council for Health Risks on Friday.
