Although the symphony cycle “Closer” of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, which has just been nominated for the Latvian Television and Latvian Radio’s annual award “Kilograms of Culture”, has ended this season (it is still available “Ticket Paradise” platform, the orchestra invites to two new concert talks.

The free live broadcast of less than an hour on May 20, which can be watched both in the video gallery of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra website www.liepajassimfoniskais.lv, and on the orchestra’s Facebook page facebook.com/Liepaja.Symphony.Orchestra, performed by “Kurland Quintet” from the works of composers such as Ferenc Farkas, Jacques Iber and John Walter Braton.

The woodwind quintet “Kurland Quintet” is an ensemble founded in the beginning of 2010, where five musicians of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra play together – flutist Reinis Lapa, oboist Mārtiņš Zālīte, clarinetist Kārlis Catlaks, bassoonist Artis Zēns and novradznieks. The musicians themselves believe that the magic of the quintet’s sound lies in the richness of timbres and colors provided by the different sounds and harmonies of the instruments. These reasons, as well as the simple desire to enjoy the joy of chamber music, are at the heart of the Kurland Quintet.

On June 17, harpist Darta Tisenkopfa has prepared a program with music by Jekaterina Valters-Kines, Kamils Sensans and Mikhail Glinka.

The harpist of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Darta Tisenkopf, has learned to play in Italy. She considers herself a perfectionist, always striving for growth in the harp. Dārta Tisenkopfa also regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician and has set the promotion of the harp as a solo instrument in Latvia as one of her goals. At the age of 18, she went to Italy to learn harp skills in depth and in 2018 graduated with honors from the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma. She also specializes in baroque lute. She has won recognition in several international competitions, participated in the contemporary music festival “Traiettorie” and the Mantua Chamber Music Festival. She has collaborated with the Orchestra Regionale Emilia-Romagnia as a soloist.
