Life and Death of Tottenham at Leicester Home this Weekend

London

Defeat from Aston Villa hinder mission Tottenham Hotspur qualify for Europe next season. Now The Lilywhites have to fight tooth and nail in the last week.

Receiving the support of 10 thousand spectators at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, Thursday (20/5/2021) in the morning WIB, Tottenham actually started the match well when they were 1-0 ahead in the eighth minute through Steven Bergwijn.

However, two mistakes made by Sergio Reguilon meant that Tottenham had conceded two goals. First Reguilon found himself in the net in the 20th minute before he let the ball go to Villa in the Tottenham defense and allowed Ollie Watkins to score in the 39th minute.

“We scored good goals, but we rewarded them two goals. When you let two goals like that be scored it will be very difficult to change the game. I am very disappointed. We don’t want to finish a season like this in front of the fans,” said interim manager Ryan Mason was quoted as saying BBC Sport.

This defeat clearly made it difficult for Tottenham to move towards the 2020/2021 Europa League. Because, Tottenham have to go down to seventh place with 59 points, lose three points from West Ham United, then equal to Everton, and are only one point ahead of Arsenal in ninth position.

With one fight remaining, then Tottenham Hotspur have to “kill each other” with Leicester at the King Power Stadium, Sunday (23/5/2021), WIB tomorrow night, to get a ticket to the Europa League.

Because, Leicester also need a win in order to maintain the chance to qualify for the Champions League next season. Leicester are competing with Chelsea and Liverpool for the two remaining top four slots.

“A very important match for us (on Sunday), as well as for them (Leicester City). We must be able to win it. We will work hard tomorrow, we have to be ready and we know what to do,” continued Mason.
