The co-founder of the Olympic group, Pavel Chrastina, has died. He was 81 years old – ČT24 – Czech Television

Chrastina was born on April 25, 1940 in Prague. As a member of the Prague bands EP-Hifi and the Big Beate Study Group, he played a significant role in the Czech music production of the time. He founded the first group as a student of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1958 at the castle in Poděbrady. It was called Samuel’s Band.

He spent seven years in the band Olympic Chrastina, from 1962 to 1969. He said there were two reasons for his departure, as he said in interviews. One of them was said to be a submarine disease, the other a different ambition. He wanted to write lyrics other than songs. He studied documentary at FAMU in Prague and worked in television. He emigrated from Czechoslovakia in the 1980s and returned to his homeland in 1994.
