The cloudy transfer of the elderly between residences in the Community of Madrid

The images are embarrassing. The nursing homes of the Community of Madrid are short of materials and personnel in the midst of a pandemic that has taken root especially with people over 70 years of age. Such is the deterioration of these institutions, that the regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso It has authorized transfers of older people from one residence to another to make up the deplorable treatment they have given some elderly people.

Some Madrid municipalities, in fact, have been pressured by the Díaz Ayuso administration to welcome these people, as they claim. This is the case of the transfer of five elders from the Jardines de Navas residence (in Navas del Rey) to Juan XXIII in Móstoles, where the state in which these elders have arrived has shaken the city council of the Madrid municipality. Dirty, torn clothes, uncut nails and with just a pencil paper where the medication they were taking was made (half-clear). A fact that from Móstoles they are going to denounce before the courts.

The Mayor of Móstoles, Noelia Posse, he made it clear on his Twitter account as soon as he received these five people in a sad state. All of it not knowing if these old people were infected with the coronavirus, since nobody had bothered to do a PCR test until then. “Today, 5 elderly people come to our residence, Juan XXIII, derived from a private residence in Navas del Rey. After weeks of pressure received by the Community of Madrid. Finally, they notify us at night when they are already on the road as if they were not people ”, began Posse’s thread.

And then the story becomes increasingly tense when it becomes clear that have been pressured from the Community of Madrid to welcome these elderly people (something that the city council insists was not a problem) and that at no time have they taken into account the municipal administration to coordinate the arrival of these elderly people. They were notified at the same time that the elderly had been put on a bus and when they arrived, the images speak for themselves.

They came from the Jardines de Navas residence, in the Madrid municipality of Navas del Rey, and their condition seemed more like that of a beggar. Broken and dirty socks and underpants, uncut nails of several weeks and a paper written in pencil with the medication. An image that shook the members of the Móstoles City Council and that led Posse to go one step further to receive these elders.

From Móstoles consider that the serious deterioration of these people is unacceptable. All this added to the fact that they do not know if they are infected and if they should be isolated to give them the appropriate treatment and to avoid risks for the staff of the Juan XXIII residence, which they have arrived in the middle of the night and without prior notice.

Posse, in view of this fact, called an urgent meeting of spokesmen last Saturday at 8:00 p.m., has drawn up a police report and an act from social services of the situation in which we have been handed over to the elderly, in addition to the fact that they are going to file a complaint with the courts.

For not receiving, the elderly have not brought clothes or a decent medical report. Just a sheet with pencil scribbles in which they try to explain the medication that until now those five elderly people who are now in the residence of Móstoles were receiving.
