The city risks becoming a “second Aleppo” if the US does not provide aid to Ukraine

Russia has changed tactics and is now trying to destroy Kharkiv’s power supply system, and also wants to intimidate the city’s residents by shelling residential areas, according to Terekhov.

The mayor of Kharkiv also emphasizes that due to the strikes, the city’s residents face unplanned power outages that last for hours on a daily basis.

More than 1.3 million people currently live in Kharkiv.

The $60 billion military aid package, which has not been adopted by the United States Congress for several months due to various political disagreements, is extremely important for Kharkiv, Terekhov emphasizes.

“We need this support to prevent Kharkiv from becoming another Aleppo,” summed up the city’s mayor.

With more than 2 million inhabitants, Haleba (formerly also known as Aleppo or Aleppo in Latvian) was the largest city in Syria before the Syrian Civil War, ahead of the capital Damascus. During the Syrian civil war, battles for Aleppo took place since the summer of 2012, during which part of the city was destroyed.

TVNET has already reported that Russia is probably preparing an attack on Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, and therefore, first, by intensifying the shelling of the city, they are trying to achieve a mass escape of the population.
