The President and Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Public Health of the Laurentian Integrated Center for Health and Social Services (CISSS), Mrs. Rosemonde Landry and Dr. Eric Goyer, wish to inform the population that the establishment is taking all the necessary actions to to deal with the COVID-19 virus.
To date, two cases have been reported in the Laurentides region. However, several preventive measures have been put in place to meet possible increased service needs on the part of the population, while ensuring the health and safety of all users of the establishment as well as staff and doctors. The CISSS des Laurentides is in close contact with the ministerial authorities and has taken the necessary action in this situation.
“We have rooms dedicated to the treatment of infected people, respirators and appropriate care equipment, as well as protective equipment such as masks and gloves. In addition, our staff are well prepared to react in the context of a pandemic. For his part, Dr. Goyer reminds the population that the COVID-19 virus poses little risk for healthy people. However, people with more vulnerable health conditions, including the elderly, people living with chronic illness and people with immunosuppression, are at higher risk of developing complications from infection with this new virus.
“We cannot stress enough that frequent and effective hand washing is an essential preventive measure that can protect you against this virus but also protect those around you. Also, if you have flu-like symptoms or come back from a trip, you should avoid contact with the elderly, especially in a center or a shelter. It is also recommended that you stay at home for 14 days to avoid spreading the virus.Says Dr. Goyer.
