“Faith, religion and the church are the only place where the traditional interpretation of value and the community as a community of real people meet,” said the Minister of Justice at the dedication of the renovated St. Michael’s Parish in Dunakeszin on Saturday.
Bence Tuzson, who is also the Fidesz member of parliament for the region, reminded us in his speech: in today’s world, the meaning of community has been reinterpreted, in the online world community actually means loneliness, and in a world where a part of the world abandons its faith, faith disappears value base, then the value remains a mere word, which is transformed and reinterpreted over time.
The minister added: therefore, it is important to strengthen church communities and support investments that will make these communities stronger and able to serve as the basis for a successful society.
He also pointed out that all construction only creates walls, therefore all investments must be filled with life, faith, and real church communities are needed for that.
Miklós Soltész, the Prime Minister’s Secretary of State responsible for church and ethnic relations, called on us to “oppose the efforts that are taking place in Western and Northern Europe and preserve our communities and communal spaces”.
The state secretary reminded that since 2010, nearly 1,900 parishes and community houses serving religious life have been renovated in the Carpathian Basin, and 340 new ones have also been built.
After the Holy Mass, the renovated parish was blessed by the assistant bishop of Vác, Lajos Varga.
