The cheapest convertibles on the Czech market or the sun above your head for little

Some kabria is incredibly expensive, but not all. You can buy a lot of them with a reserve of up to a million crowns. That’s why we looked at the four cheapest real convertibles on the Czech market, ie those that will have no pillars left, no frames, no windows, just sky overhead after the roof is folded.

If we put a million crowns in the basic price as a ceiling and exclude, for example, the Fiat 500C, which costs little but only sums up the middle part of the roof and cannot be described as a convertible, there is not much left.

Who would have thought that the cheapest real convertible on the Czech market will come from a brand that plays mainly in style and is not ashamed to charge a fair amount. But that’s the way it is – the basic Mini One Cabrio with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder with 102 hp and a six-speed manual costs from 612,306 crowns according to the current price list.

Used cars are, of course, cheaper; you can buy a used Mini Cabrio on the sauto.cz advertising website for the cheapest price of 102 thousand crowns; is from 2005. There are a number of offers up to 150 thousand crowns. However, as is often the case with used cars, the cheapest cars on offer can be time bombs in terms of service costs.

Mazda MX-5

This point was clear – the Mazda MX-5 is world famous as an affordable roadster. In the Czech Republic, it starts at 745,900 crowns for a basic 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 132 horsepower, which sends power to the right, ie rear axle, via a six-speed manual.

If we search for used cars on the same website as above, we will come across the cheapest piece from 1995 for 35 thousand crowns. For other offers, however, prices are rising rapidly to some 90 thousand, which is better for the old MX-5.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet

In third place was a newcomer and at the same time a bit of a unicorn, the Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet – an SUV with a canvas folding roof. With a 150k four-cylinder TSI with a volume of 1.5 liters and a six-stage manual, it costs from 748,900 crowns. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive is not available in the Czech Republic.

You will hardly look for a used T-Roc Cabriolet and you will come across a demonstration piece at most. Nevertheless, Volkswagen has quite a tradition in convertibles and, for example, there is a lot of golf without roofs from the 1990s up to 50,000; on sauto.cz is the cheapest for 29 thousand from 1995.

If you would like to avoid the frame above the front seats, look for a New Beetle, for example; the cheapest is from 2004 for 60 thousand crowns.

BMW 218i Cabrio

The last real convertible up to a million is again a rear wheel – a BMW 2 Series with a three-cylinder of 136 hp. It looks like a weakness, but from the offer of this model, the 218i is the only version you get with a manual transmission.

Used pieces can be found, but because this is also a relatively new car, they start at over half a million crowns. Cheap BMWs without a roof are the 3 Series E36 or E46 or the first Z3. On the sauto.cz website, they start at 89, resp. 80 and 110 thousand crowns.

And on the other hand, what if we set a limit of not one million, but 1.5 million crowns for new cars? That would be much more interesting. It would fit two Mercedes, the SLC 200 from 1.13 million and the C 180 Cabriolet from 1.17 million, the Audi A5 Cabriolet 40 TFSI from 1.38 million and even eight-cylinder Ford Mustang GT Convertible – the four-cylinder is not in the current price list – for a price of 1.4 million crowns.
