Astronauts SpaceX spacecraft will return on August 1

NASA driver Jim Bridenstine reports that the departure of astronauts Douglas Hurley and Bob Behnken is scheduled for August 1.

The two could land a day later, but the exact time depends on the weather. The capsule will land in the Atlantic Ocean, just like the Apollo capsules in the 1960s and 70s.

It was the first time in history that a commercial company brought people into space.

The astronauts made the first manned US space flight since 2011. The United States had relied on arch-rival Russia to bring people to the ISS and back for all these years.

Hurley and Behnken’s spacecraft is called the Crew Dragon and is built by SpaceX, the company of Tesla boss Elon Musk.
