Like any event belonging to the list of “events of major importance”, protected by a decree of 2004, the final of the Champions League benefits each year from unencrypted broadcasting. If last year, TF1 had bought the co-broadcasting rights for the PSG-Bayern Munich final (0-1), according to our information it is RMC Story which will broadcast the Manchester City-Chelsea final this season on Saturday 29 May at 9 p.m. On payment, RMC Sport 1 will also offer this final with its own device.

In 2019, the Altice group, owner of the rights for the 2018-2021 cycle, reserved the Tottenham-Liverpool (0-2) final for another of its channels: BFM TV. But the Superior Audiovisual Council (CSA) then put the news channel on notice, justifying its decision: “The live broadcast of the entire match […] constitutes a breach ” at the convention of the chain of the Altice group, dedicated “Information, particularly economic and financial information”. In the event of a repeat offense, the CSA could have opened a sanction procedure with the referral of an independent rapporteur. The Altice group thus preferred to bet on RMC Story, a channel which already broadcasts one Europa League poster per day of competition. It will also broadcast the Villarreal-Manchester United final on Wednesday May 26 at 9 p.m.
