The center-right lashes Conte: “We need clear rules”

The new measures that could arrive for Christmas are generating political, social and economic chaos and now the compact center-right is asking the government and Giuseppe Conte for maximum clarity. “Italians are interested in having clear rules and certain about what they will do at Christmas and New Year …“he said Silvio Berlusconi during the presentation of the book by Bruno Vespa. An appeal which Giorgia Meloni and Matteo Salvini also joined.

The request of the center-right is legitimate. Until Sunday, Italy was destined to become entirely yellow and it now seemed certain the possibility of reopening restaurants, bars and clubs for lunch even on holidays and until 6pm. This would have guaranteed the possibility of at least having lunches on days holidays. A common sense decision to allow a taste of normality to our cities. It was also thinking about the hypothesis of eliminating the block to the movement between municipalities on holidays, expanding it at the provincial level. After the images of the cities, he lives on the weekend, also thanks to the incentive to shop cashback, the government suddenly fell the cleaver for a new possible lockdown over the holiday period. A decision that has generated chaos and confusion in the citizens, a situation which the center-right is now asking the government and Giuseppe Conte to remedy as soon as possible. We need certain answers to the country and, if there is a lockdown, traders and entrepreneurs must be compensated in adequate time and not according to the standards of this executive.

The current hypothesis is to send Italy into lockdown with a generalized red zone, or with a reinforced orange zone, from 24 to 6 January. However, the group of penalty takers would like to anticipate the tightening, starting the lockdown already on Saturday 19 December to avoid shopping crowds. On this point, however, the center-right responds negatively in a compact way. “Is the government thinking of generalized closures? From Christmas to Epiphany we are available, but don’t play jokes first, there is the risk of social revolt“, commented Matteo Salvini, who then added: “We are finalizing a joint communiqué from the center-right Regions, the indication is health first of all, if the government tomorrow decides to propose restrictions to the regions, very willing to discuss them, but immediate reimbursements are needed, German model all the way“. It does not even allow an inch Giorgia Meloni, agrees in demanding clarity and speed in communication but, above all, support for activities in crisis: “Closures must depend on repayment ability that the government has, the government needs to be more serious about the closures than before“.

During the presentation of Bruno Vespa’s book there was also time to talk about the Italian political moment. Silvio Berlusconi was categorical in reiterating the position of his party and in tracing what must now be the priorities of the policy: “I absolutely exclude Forza Italia support for the Conte government. If there should be one crisis we would totally defer to the wisdom of the Head of State. For us the conviction remains that the word must be given to the Italians as soon as possible but it will be the head of state who will decide, if there are conditions for the polls or for a center-right government, but I say it is useless to discuss it now, we must discuss the things that need to be done, such as the vaccine plan“. Silvio Berlusconi then joked about the possibility of a government led by Bruno Vespa, while Giorgia Meloni is ready to support an executive headed by Matteo Salvini, who, however, disappears:”The only alternative to voting is a center-right government, not a Salvini government, I say this right away. There would be several better personalities“.
