The Catholic Church sent a message to the candidates: “No one is saved alone”

The Catholic Church He sent a message to the presidential candidates in the upcoming general elections. The leadership of Catholicism, in Argentina, released a statement prior to next Sunday’s voting. The representatives of the Church supported dialogue and agreement between the winner and the competitors.

As reported by NA, through a document published by the National Commission of Justice and Peace (CNJyP), the ecclesiastical sector addressed a request to the presidential candidates: “Shortly after 40 years of the recovery of democracy and the state of law, we reiterate our willingness, in an attitude of listening, to promote and facilitate dialogue between political and social forces with the aim of reaching the agreements that our Argentina needs,” the letter reads.

«For this reason, going to vote in peace, on October 22, will be a contribution to strengthening a democracy that means full citizenship, exercise of rights, that ensure conditions for the well-being of our people, that overcome fragmentation, with social sensitivity, that guarantee equal opportunities, with economic independence«adds the document.

The Catholic Church anticipated the results and has already demanded dialogue from whoever wins at the polls this October 22: «The vote expresses the popular will and requires the candidates who succeed in the election to be prepared to resolve the serious problems we face, with the cooperation and help of everyone else, under the principle that no one is saved alone.«.

The title of the letter uses a quote from Pope Francis in which he underlines “The construction of social peace in a country is a task that does not give up and that requires the commitment of everyone«. “In these times in our country, in Latin America and in the world, dialogue and listening must become permanent instruments of justice and peace, strengthening social friendship,” the text adds.
