The Camino de Santiago in Castilla y León, protagonist in a European photography contest | Radio Palencia | Present

From the European RURITAGE project, in which the Santa María la Real Foundation, a photography contest has been called to publicize the richness of the natural and cultural heritage of some European rural areas, including the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Castilla y León.

Not in vain, RURITAGE is a project that works within the Horizon 2020 program to transform rural areas into laboratories for sustainable development, taking advantage of the potential of their exceptional cultural and natural heritage. 19 rural areas of different parts of Europe and the world, including the Camino de Santiago Frances in Castilla y León, joined the project from its inception as pilot areas, models and replicators. Another 17 rural areas participate as additional replicators. All of them are the subject of this new photography contest.

Participation in the contest It is open for both individuals and organizations until October 31 of this year. All you have to do is send images that reflect the uniqueness and impact on the importance of the natural and cultural heritage of the areas participating in the project. The jury will assess those photographs that highlight actions that are contributing to local reactivation, which can be identified with six areas of work: pilgrimage, resilience, sustainable local food production, integrated landscape management, migration and art and festivals.

The award?

The winner of the competition will be invited to participate in the final conference of the RURITAGE project, which will take place in Paris in 2022. In addition, the best images will be displayed at UNESCO headquarters and featured on the websites of RURITAGE and its partners. including UNESCO, ICLEI Europe, the University of Bologna and many more.
