The previous record from Thursday was 679 new cases, on Friday the daily increase in those infected almost broke the limit of eight hundred. This follows from current data from the Ministry of Health.

The number of currently ill patients, which is almost 7,800, is also record-breaking. Most of them have a mild covid-19 disease, many of whom are completely asymptomatic. There were 190 of them in the hospital, less than three percent. Over the past week, the number of hospitalized and those in serious condition has increased by 30 percent. According to the latest data, 44 patients need intensive care in hospitals.

In total, more than half a year after the first confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Czech Republic, almost 27,250 people became infected, of which over 19,000 have already been cured and 429 have died. On Tuesday, the first day of September, 504 new cases of covid were added, which equaled the current maximum of 21 August. In the next two days, the daily increase in those infected exceeded 600, and on Friday it approached eight hundred.

The Czech Republic currently has the highest rate of coronavirus infection from neighboring countries. From 1 September, the obligation to wear veils in indoor public spaces, such as public transport or offices, has been extended throughout the country. Further tightening awaits Prague in the next two weeks, where, according to the Ministry of Health, community transmission is beginning.

The most significant increase in the number of infected is now in Hodonín, where 86 new cases of covid-19 have increased per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. The districts of Svitavy, Prague and Beroun have registered more than 60 infected 100,000 inhabitants in the past week. During the entire duration of the epidemic, the capital has the most confirmed cases in the regions, where tests have so far revealed over 6,300 coronavirus positive people.

On Friday, the Ministry of Health published an updated map of districts according to the degree of risk of infection, the so-called traffic light. Prague remained at the second orange level of risk out of three, according to the Ministry of Health it is the most important local focus in the Czech Republic. There are currently ten districts in the green level, especially in Central Bohemia around Prague and also in South Moravia.
