“A limited number of military tanker drivers will be put on standby and sent out if necessary, to further stabilize the distribution of fuel,” a statement from the British authorities said.
The government blames the delivery of petrol to the country’s petrol stations on panic purchases and encourages people not to stock up on fuel.
According to the country’s transport industry, the UK is missing 100,000 truck drivers as a result of a combination of an aging workforce, foreigners who have left the country in connection with Brexit and the corona pandemic.
