The bridge between Drancy and Le Bourget closed after a spectacular pipe rupture

The approximately three-meter-deep crater that formed on Saturday under the causeway of the bridge between Le Bourget and Drancy leaves a passer-by speechless. “It’s amazing, I’ve never seen that, do you think we can take a picture?” He wonders, shyly approaching the cavity. The relatively large incident actually occurred as a result of a pipe rupture.

The city of Drancy states that this is a drinking water pipeline of the Sedif (Ile-de-France Water Union) that has given way, no doubt weakened by the polar temperatures of recent days. Filmed at 99 Marceau Avenue, the video footage of the breakup itself is spectacular : with the pressure, the roaring water overturned the underside of the road, forming a small collapse.

The bridge, which had to be completely closed to traffic, is a strategic axis between the two cities, especially as it allows you to reach the RER B station Le Bourget / Drancy.

This Saturday afternoon, the drivers were surprised at the chain by the closure not indicated very early, nor reported by GPS navigators. The municipality of Drancy indicated that it hoped that the work could quickly reopen to traffic, perhaps as early as this Sunday.
