Two bodies were found on Thursday April 4 in a mountainous area on the island of Madeira (Portugal). They could be the bodies of a couple of French hikers who had disappeared three weeks earlier.
It was on a difficult to access, very steep, impassable path that rescuers found two bodies in a ravine on Thursday April 4 in the evening and Friday April 5 in the morning. For the Portuguese authorities, it would be the French couple who were missing. Clothes, shoes and a wedding ring would correspond to the personal effects of the two adults from Tarn-et-Garonne. Analyzes were carried out for identification, an autopsy is also underway.
Dismay in their village
The police are looking into whether the couple was the victim of a bad encounter or a fall. The area where the bodies were discovered is very steep and accidents are frequent. This couple of bakers, aged 56 and 58, were on vacation on the island with their daughter. On March 16, the couple mysteriously disappeared while hiking in the mountains. In their village in France, where they owned a business, there was consternation.
