The bitterness of Miozzo (CTS): “The mental health of our children does not seem to have value in the words of many politicians in our country”

“I read with great concern the impressive list of decisions taken by the various regional presidents regarding the return in the presence of high school students”.

“It is really difficult to understand how a ‘normal’ country can have regions which, for a few million students, give indications of returning to school on January 7, some hypothesize 11, others 18; some postpone it to the end of the month, others even leave the students free to decide whether to go to school or continue with Dad ”.

This was written in a letter to Corriere della Sera by Agostino Miozzo, coordinator of the Technical Scientific Committee. Miozzo then refers to “A provocation that I made, well aware that my wish to invoke Article 120 of the Constitution is far from being adopted. In fact, my reference to the article of the Constitution was not intended to be a criticism of President Conte, but the consideration of those who operated in the course of major crises and realize that centrality, in the actions to be taken, is essential to achieve concrete objectives. that benefit the entire community involved. Looking at the current disastrous situation of the school universe, the countless, diversified and improvised solutions decided in full autonomy by the regional presidents (and often by the mayors themselves), it is natural to wonder why a centralized decision mechanism is not put in place which exceeds the power of the local authorities. I wonder, precisely in the light of this sort of ‘didactic anarchy’, why it is not possible to impose decisions to be taken in relation to specific parameters of compatibility and risk of the territories, well aware of what the complex world of school represents in the context of this incredible crisis. A central decision-making that highlights the need to consider the issue of school, the psychophysical health of our young people as a true priority of our country “.

“In terms of communication – Miozzo continues – I would like to know your opinion on experts in the sector who improperly speak of high school students as ‘highly contagious’ subjects, in other words the spreaders of society and the killers of the older population; rather than local politicians who call for the closure of schools to “avoid a massacre”.

“The mental health of our children, dear director, does not seem to have value and weight in the words of many politicians in our country and for this I am deeply, sadly sorry”.
