A pink Super Moon, the largest of the year, will light up the night of April 7-8 about 356,000 km from Earth. Thanks to this shortened distance from normal, Earthlings will be able to admire the enlarged and colorful Moon, from pink to pale yellow.

A full moon of pink color will light up the sky on the night of April 7 to 8, 2020 to become the biggest and the brightest Super moon of this year. This will be the third in 2020, after those observed February 9 and March 9.
This phenomenon takes place when the Moon is in the immediate vicinity of Earth, coinciding with the perigee, that is to say the shortest distance between our planet and its satellite. The term “Super Moon” is used when the distance between the two is less than 358,000 kilometers, says Le Soir. This Tuesday, April 7, the Moon will be “only” 357,000 kilometers from Earth. It will therefore appear to us 7% larger and 30% brighter than a conventional full moon.
A color that varies
Over the past 20 years, there have been 79 Super moons, or on average one every three months. It is called “pink moon” not for its color, but in reference to that of the spring flowers of the cherry trees. In reality, the Super Moon from April 7 to 8 will also show delicate orange, then pale yellow hues, for a few minutes, explains Forbes.
The color of the Super Moon differs depending on the location of the observer and the weather conditions.
