Washington (dpa) – Washington prepared for a demonstration by supporters of then US President Donald Trump a good eight months after the US Capitol was stormed. On Saturday morning (local time) there were high security precautions around the Capitol in the capital.

The Capitol Police tweeted photos of the morning preparation for the mission and wrote “Teamwork”. The area around the congress headquarters had been cordoned off as a precaution. Emergency forces from other units, such as the capital city police and the national guard, are ready to provide support, it said on Friday.

The demonstration in support of defendants who have to answer in court because of the storming of the Capitol on January 6th is set to start at 6 p.m. German time. According to the organizer, there will also be rallies in other US cities. Trump supporters had violently stormed the Congress headquarters in the US capital on January 6th. Five people were killed, including a police officer.
