The band’s “forgotten” guitarist died

NEW YORK (Dagbladet): The band even informs about the death on Twitter.

– We in the RHCP family want to wish Jack Sherman a peaceful voyage into the next worlds because he has passed away. Jack played on our debut album as well as on our first US tour, writes Red Hot Chili Peppers and adds:

– He was a unique guy, and we thank him for all the good, bad and everything in between.

The cause of death is not known.

– Painful

Sherman replaced the original guitarist, Hillel Slovak, in December 1983, and remained until Slovak returned to the band in 1985.

Sherman later contributed to two of Chili Pepper’s releases, “The Abbey Road” and “Mother’s Milk.” He also worked with other famous artists such as Bob Dylan and George Clinton.

When the Red Hot Chili Peppers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, Sherman was not among the members inducted. He later commented critically on this, according to BBC.

“It’s really painful to see all the celebration going on and then be excluded,” Sherman told Billboard Magazine.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, which started in Los Angeles in 1983, today consists of vocalist Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith.

Hillel Slovak, who took back his job as a guitarist from Jack Sherman, himself died of a heroin overdose in 1988.
