“Your life still matters to us.” One year after death of George Floyd, the signs of respect for his memory are maintained on social networks.

But definitely one of the most famous works was the song “I Can’t Breathe”, from the Californian H.E.R. This moving protest song was written in response by the floyd murder and won a Grammy for best song.

H.E.R. said the song was born during a video call conversation with his co-writer Tiara Thomas, in which they discussed the new wave of protests.

“Our words became the lyrics to ‘I Can’t Breathe’, it was something I needed to get out. But when it came out, I didn’t realize that it was actually going to be something that it will impact people and that would become the march soundtrack or something like that”.

“I feel a responsibility to use my platform. We should all speak out against the things we don’t like“declared the singer-songwriter.
