“Being a tattoo artist is a job that requires commitment to art, since we must be aware that these are traces that remain on people’s skin. In addition, social networks have paved the way for us in the world and millions of eyes are on each of our designs”, said Vicente Cremades, the Spanish tattoo artist who, due to his professionalism, has designed creations for the French rapper SCH and players from European teams such as Levante, Osasuna, Alavés, Getafe, Athletic de Bilbao; Juan Bernat, PSG player and Danish league players.
Designing a tattoo is something that goes beyond a simple drawing on the body; Each creation must be an art so that it reflects what the tattooist and the owner of the tattoo are looking for. “The love for drawing is a good start, because from there you go looking for perspectives, techniques and you know the colors that you can apply. The love for creative art is the basis of this profession”, said Vicente.
He found in drawing a form of expression that he perfected over time and that he decided to apply to the most authentic canvases: people’s skin. “Since I was 16 years old I started tattooing myself and exploring this world so full of creativity. They gave me my first machine and I practiced with oranges, then I decided to tattoo some friends. For a time I was inclined towards the fine arts, but my concern ended up defining that my path was in the tattoo world”, he declared.
“Since I was little I liked to draw. My mother would sign me up for courses that I never finished because I preferred my own space and my own inspiration,” she said. With which he makes it clear that his vocation has been organic and that each achievement he has achieved is due to his dedication and passion for creating and tracing his own ideas.
With time and experience, Vicente found the technique that confronted each design that he proposed. “Graphic design is something important, just like the technique you use. A tattoo artist must seek harmony between the sketch and the area in which it will be made. I apply the layered shading technique, which is to start an area and not finish it until the redness of the skin subsides, ”he said.
“Currently, the photography of the result is also important, because social networks have become a new way of showing our work, so we must also have a minimum knowledge of photography,” he said. And it is that social networks also came to revolutionize the world of tattoo artists, because now they are the platform they use to present the fruits of their effort and dedication.
His talent has crossed borders, for which he has been the creator of designs for personalities such as the French rapper SCH, as well as for PSG player Juan Bernat, Ariadne, from Osasuna; Miguel de la Fuente, from Alavés, as well as some players from the Danish league.
Vicente Cremades has participated in some conventions in Sabadell and Valencia, in the latter he obtained third place in the black and white category, which has encouraged him to continue to be present in this type of event and prepares himself to be able to expand his talent.
For now, Vicente invites tattoo artists to prepare and perfect their techniques, since he believes that they are responsible for doing original work that will open more doors around the world. “I tell Mexicans to always look for an expert tattoo artist and to do their work with passion, because that will be key to achieving the desired result. I ask tattoo artists to prepare themselves, not to enter their comfort zone, to fight to be better, to offer more quality in each of their creations, because that will make the difference between seeing this as work or seeing it as art and a form of expression” he stated.
“We are in a technology revolution, we must use our social networks so that the whole world knows our work and what better than this being done with the heart. We are the creators of a special art that others carry with pride. They place their trust in us, we literally leave a mark on their skin and that is something that we must learn to value”, he concluded.
