Ukrainian Defense Minister Andriy Taran said that the presence of the Neptune missile systems in the Navy would increase the deterrent potential of the Ukrainian army.
Prototypes of the mobile missile system with Neptune anti-ship missiles will be handed over to the Ukrainian army during March. This was announced on March 11 by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran, writes press service of the Ministry of Defense.
He noted that the Neptune complexes were manufactured within the framework of a state contract between the Ministry of Defense and the state enterprise Kiev Design Bureau Luch.
“This is a historic event, because thanks to joint purposeful work in the shortest possible time, the protection of the Ukrainian coast acquires new opportunities. Neptune is a new generation of weapons for us, a new word in the development of military coastal defense of Ukraine. Their presence in the Navy will increase the deterrent potential and increase influence on the situation in the Azov-Black Sea region, “the minister said.
The complex includes a mobile command post, a unified self-propelled launcher, a transport-loading vehicle, a transport vehicle, a set of ground equipment, dimensional mass models of cruise missiles, and the like.
Taran noted that these first prototypes will make it possible to begin the practical preparation of the Neptune crews, which in the future will carry out combat duty and service the 360MTS serial missile system as part of military units.
