Chief of Staff of the Army (KSADTNI General Andika Perkasa stated that his party was conducting an internal examination after a Kopassus soldier was involved beatings in South Jakarta, Sunday (18/4).
He questioned the whereabouts of members of the Special Forces Command in the entertainment area.
“Internally we have to understand, because what are you doing there?” Andika said at the Pomdam Jaya Headquarters, South Jakarta, Tuesday (20/4).
He said he would not cover up what his soldiers did on Sunday morning at that location. His party will explore why this Kopassus member could be involved in raids in the area.
“We have to be honest what our soldiers are doing there, why are we doing there and that is what we are currently investigating,” he said.
“We will find out exactly what happened,” said Andika.
Furthermore, said Andika, his party also continued to coordinate with the Polda Metro Jaya, which handled the muggings case.
This is also to find out who and how many perpetrators were involved in the action that killed one police officer.
“We continue to coordinate closely with the Regional Police for the perpetrators. We must be objective, what is the role of other people’s criminal acts must be processed. We continue to monitor how it is handled,” he explained.
A member of the TNI AD with the initials DB was injured and a police member with the initials YSB died after being suspected of being the victim of beatings by an unknown person.
The beatings took place in the Kebayoran Baru area, South Jakarta on Sunday (18/4) morning. The beating incident experienced by DB and YBS was confirmed by the Head of the Kebayoran Baru Sub-District, Tomy Fudihartono.
The incident was also uploaded to the Instagram account @ndorobeii. However, no violence was shown in the video.
The @ndorobeii account wrote that the incident started when the body of YSB was found lying on the sidewalk of Jalan Faletehan, Kelurahan Melawai, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta at around 7.41 WIB by two residents.
The two victims were then rushed to the Pertamina Central Hospital (RSPP) Jakarta. One victim with the initials YSB died of bleeding after suffering injuries to his hand and thigh, allegedly due to a sharp weapon incision. Meanwhile, the TNI member with the initials DB is still undergoing medical treatment.
