After the Ramstein meeting on January 20, as Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force Command, notes, the Ukrainian army should receive additional air defense systems capable of shooting down ballistic missiles.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces can hit S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, from which Russian troops are actively shelling cities, including Kyiv. This was announced on January 19 on the air of the national telethon speaker Command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat.
According to him, the main method in countering the S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, from which the Russian Armed Forces carry out shelling of Ukrainian cities, is their destruction.
Yuriy Ignat recalled that on Friday, January 20, a regular meeting of Ramstein will be held, following which Ukraine can receive additional air defense systems capable of effectively resisting Russian missile attacks.
“Obviously, there will be a powerful assistance package on Ramstein. In particular, we are talking about NASAMS, IRIS-T, Patriot systems. And this is exactly what can shoot down ballistic missiles. But specifically for the S-300 and S-400, the best ” vaccination” is the destruction of the installations themselves,” the officer continued on the air of the telethon.
Ignat believes that defeating the S-300 and S-400 installations, which can be located hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is a very real task for the Defense Forces. The speaker of the command recalled that the Ukrainian army has long-range artillery and operational-tactical missile systems at its disposal.
“And don’t forget that we have attack drones that can also thin out the enemy’s air defense systems,” Ignat added, commenting on the possible destruction of the S-300 and S-400 systems, from which the Russian Armed Forces continue to shell Ukrainian cities.
It should be noted that on January 15, the speaker of the Air Force Command, Yuri Ignat, warned about the threat of new shelling of Kyiv from S-300 systems. According to the officer, the speed of anti-aircraft missiles can reach 4 thousand kilometers per hour, which is why the flight time of the projectile to its destination is only a few minutes.
A few days earlier, officer Yuri Ignat said that Air forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroy S-300 and S-400 launchers with the help of fighters on which HARM anti-radar missiles were installed.
