The Argentine basketball star could become a member of the Strautiņš team

The Russian team “Khimki”, represented by Latvian national basketball players Jānis Timmas and Daira Bertāns, has announced that the center Petrs Gubanovs no longer plays as part of it, while Varese “Openjobmetis” represented by Artūrs Strautiņš plans to add Argentine basketball legend Luis School.

Gubanov did not play last season due to injury. He last went on the field in the 2018/19 season, when he averaged 9.9 minutes and two points in 12 ULEB Euroleague games.

Meanwhile, the Italian A-series club “Openjobmetis” next week hired the experienced Argentine Luis School, who played in the AX “Armani Exchange Olimpia” club in Milan last season.

Earlier this month, the Argentine, saying goodbye to the Milan team, announced that he did not want to play in the ULEB Euroleague next season. Meanwhile, on Saturday, sources close to the Varese Club say that the School will be offered a 1 + 1 contract.

However, the school is likely to spend only one season in the Varese unit so as not to lose its athletic form before the Tokyo Olympics, in which the 40-year-old Argentine has decided to take part.

Last season, the school scored an average of 9.2 points in 28 games at ULEB Euroleague and 4.4 rebounds.

The school joined the Milan Club last year. The basketball player earned a contract in one of Europe’s strongest leagues with his performance in the World Cup, helping Argentina win silver. He was also included in the symbolic top five of the World Cup.

During his career, the School has also played for the National Basketball Association (NBA), playing a total of 743 games, representing five teams.

In 2004 he became an Olympic champion, but four years later he won a bronze award. He also has PK silver medals won in 2002 and 2019.

Strautiņš will connect his future with the next strongest basketball league club in Varese “Openjobmetis” for the next three years.

Stream can play as a defender and a light attacker. Last season in Italy, the basketball players started in the ranks of the Trieste “Allianz”, but finished in the Italian second league club Udine’s “Apu Old Wild West”.

In the ranks of the Udine unit, Strautiņš spent an average of 24.3 minutes in six matches on the field, during which he stood out with 11.7 points and 4.3 rebounds.

At the beginning of the season, he represented the A-series Allianz in Trieste, where the basketball player took part in 17 league games, in which he spent an average of 11.2 minutes on the court, scoring 2.1 points on average and winning 1.7 balls under baskets.

Ingus Jakovičs played for Varēze club last season, but the further career intentions of the basketball player are not yet known.
