The animals rejoice, the first laboratory meat factory has opened

Laboratory-produced meat will help in the future in the fight against climate change, according to the producers, the production process itself is also faster than animal husbandry. The demand for meat is also growing from people who prefer the meat produced to ordinary meat from slaughterhouses.

The factory currently produces less than half a ton of meat a day.

According to the company, the production of laboratory meat takes up 99 percent less farmland, 96 percent less water and the production process itself, and up to 80 percent less greenhouse gases, which play a vital role in the climate change process.

The factory now specializes mainly in chicken, pork and mutton. In the near future, it should also start producing beef. “Our goal is to make cultivated meat accessible to everyone, while ensuring that we produce delicious foods that are healthy and sustainable, which will help secure the future of future generations,” said Israeli biomedical engineer Yaakov Nahmias.

Dozens of companies around the world are trying to come up with classic meat substitutes. While some of them (Planted or Beyond Meat) rely on plant composition, others, including Future Meat, rely on laboratory-produced meat from real animal cells. These are allowed to grow and divide under laboratory conditions to achieve the desired structure. There is no need to kill animals during the production itself.
