The American Adventure of Salt Bae Comes to an End: Controversies Force Closure of His Restaurant

Three years after launching his restaurant, the American adventure of Nusret Gökçe, also known as Salt Bae, is already over.

Indeed, the Turkish cook has decided to close his restaurant after receiving many criticisms during the three years spent in New York.

The Gothamist news site even called the establishment that serves hamburgers “the worst restaurant in New York”.

It must be said that its menus did not attract burger lovers and that the prices were quite high. It could even serve milkshakes and burgers for $99 and $100. He also imagined a burger for the ladies, but it was called sexist.

Moreover, even the decor of the restaurant and the staff were criticized. One review considered the restaurant to be an airplane hangar and staff sometimes wore AirPods while serving according to some accounts. “The staff were very rude and the food wasn’t even good,” reads one review site.

The Insider media investigated nine staff members of Nusret Gökçe’s restaurant. The latter accused Salt Bae of being a “tyrant”.

Very little praise for the one who sprinkled, with a style all his own, salt on the cuts of meat served to the biggest stars on the planet.
