The amendment of blood and mourning: 6 years after the murder of Rodrigo Quintana

With a remarkably sad face, Fidelino Quintana, Rodrigo Quintana’s father, recalled the precious days of the murder and asked for justice.

Don Quintana recounted that the young man asked his friends to accompany him to the capital of the country, they refused and Rodrigo arrived alone in Asunción, determined to join the demonstration.

Hours later, at his home in La Colmena, his mother heard noises and thought that her son was back, unfortunately, that never happened.

A neighbor, plucked up his courage, knocked on the Quintana window and announced “it seems that Rodrigo happened to him.” His mother, incredulous of him, replied that Rodrigo was already at home, due to the movements she heard before.

Upon confirming that the young liberal was not at home, his parents traveled to Asunción immediately, where they confirmed the terrible end: Rodrigo, 25, was shot dead at the headquarters of the Authentic Radical Liberal Party.

Don Fidelino admitted that he always knew that it would be difficult to achieve justice for his son’s case, he stressed that “Cartes was at his peak at that time.”

Finally, he maintains the hope that with the changes in the Prosecutor’s Office and after six years of the boxed case, the event will finally be followed up.
