A regional minister in India drinking the water of the Kali Bein river which is purified in Sultanpur Lodhi. This prompted the minister to be flown to a hospital in the capital New Delhi.
The minister is Bhagwant Mann who is the Chief Minister of Punjab. Mann reportedly experienced stomach pain about two days after drinking the holy river’s water.
Reported by The Indian Express and republicworld.com, Friday (22/7/2022), Mann was rushed to the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. Mann began complaining of stomach pain on Tuesday (19/7) evening local time.

It is known that earlier on Sunday (17/7), Mann visited Sultanpur Lodhi to commemorate the 22nd anniversary of the cleansing of Kali Bein. The government then released photos of Mann drinking a glass of water taken directly from Kali Bein.
The video of Mann drinking directly from the river had gone viral on Twitter India.
The local government statement at the time said Mann planted trees on the banks of Kali Bein and drank water from the creek.
