The 4L Trophy is aimed at young people under 28 years old. It’s not a speed race, but a unique experience of traveling in pairs, learning how to find your way, solidarity, sharing and above all, being amazed. Bivouacs are an opportunity for meetings and good humor.
The 4L Trophy is a celebration while being a school of respect for others and the environment, an elementary rule for these habitats and these magnificent places which will be crossed.
A journey of more than 6,000 km. Departure from Biarritz, then crossing Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco, from Tangier to the Atlas, from Merzouga to Ouarzazate, from Tichka to Marrakech, and return to Spain.
The total escape
For twelve days, the escape will be complete for Aurore and Thomas, 22 and 23 years old. She is an academic, he a mechanic. In 2019, the latter had already participated in the adventure as a “mechanic” guide. It didn’t take much for the desire to become a participant to arise.
Starting from two Renault 4Ls, almost wrecks, a long two-year restoration began, helped in particular, every Saturday, by Migné Carrosserie, who provided space, tools and help.
Almost everything is changed, checked, arranged. The engine has been completely rebuilt, the front drum brakes replaced by discs, the original rear axle with its much more resistant “bronze” version, etc. Of course, spare parts are not forgotten… just in case. The 4L is “like new”, the work is impressive.
At the same time, a race for patrons emerged. Young people are not rich enough to take on the project alone and sponsors are essential.
Budget the 15,000 euros
It’s in the shopping arcade of the Yzeures-sur-Creuse supermarket. with the help of store manager Vincent Moreau and his team, the 4L was exhibited the weekend of January 27. A sort of virtuous circle between suppliers and customers.
For a budget of around €15,000, half sponsored, the crew is now ready. The impatience is already felt. On February 15, Aurore and Thomas will be in Biarritz for the start of this great adventure.
