The 2020 edition of the Escalade Course in Geneva has been canceled, we can read on the race organization’s website. The 43rd edition will therefore take place on December 4 and 5, 2021.
The coronavirus pandemic will have claimed another victim in Swiss sport. With 40,000 participants, the Escalade Race is the biggest athletic event in Switzerland. But with such a crowd, it was not possible to be able to enforce the rules of distancing.
‘The numerous departures of runners during the weekend of the Escalade Race do not make it possible to respect the rules of individual distancing. The persistence of the presence of the coronavirus requires the organizers to postpone the demonstration ‘, write the organizers on their site.
Faced with the impossibility of guaranteeing all health security for participants, the organizers preferred to take a tour and make an appointment in December 2021.
Created in 1978, the Escalade Course has taken place every year since the first edition, without exception despite the bad weather.
