He explored the potential health benefits of intermittent fasting by looking at various scientific studies and also by carefully testing this type of intermittent fasting on himself. He established that the 2-day-a-week fasting diet is a simple and flexible approach for those who follow intermittent fasting.

This approach to fasting involves eating normally for five days a week and then restricting your calorie intake on the remaining two days. It also involves eating 800 calories two days a week, known as fasting days, and eating a balanced diet without counting calories on the other five days.

On non-fasting days, it is recommended to rationally control portions and choose Mediterranean-style meals, as eating ultra-processed foods will negate the benefits.

On fasting days, people typically choose to eat either three small meals or two larger meals, prioritizing protein, fiber, and healthy fats to stay properly nourished and energized.

During fasting, the body enters a state of ketosis, where it switches to burning fat for fuel rather than the glucose found in carbohydrates.

The 2-Day Fasting Diet has been linked to some potential health benefits, including weight loss, improved metabolic health, and longevity.

Furthermore, Dr. Mosley was able to reverse his type 2 diabetes with this approach. In fact, he lost nearly nine pounds and brought his blood sugar back to a healthy level in just 12 weeks of following this dietary protocol.

The doctor said the diet lowers blood sugar, can reduce the risk of some cancers, can be more effective for weight loss than continuous caloric restriction, can delay neurological disorders like dementia, Parkinson’s disease and even reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
