That’s why the Hungarian actor wasn’t even hired as a porter: Balázs Galkó can barely make ends meet on his pension – Hazai stár

Balázs Galkó two weeks ago, he posted that at the age of 74 he is struggling with serious financial problems, despite being a successful actor for decades, his pension is HUF 120,000, and he can barely live on it.

He submitted his application for the porter-receptionist position at the Radnót Theatre, but was not hired, but the director of the theater, Adél Kováts, offered his help and met Galko.

Balázs Galkó was therefore not hired as a porter

Balázs Galkó, one of the founders of the Valley of the Arts and until 2015 the idea director of the festival, is now the For Story magazine revealed why his application was rejected. He said that Adél Kováts, whom he loves and respects, was very kind to him during the personal conversation.

– He listed his arguments and counter-arguments, which cannot be argued with. This is a three-shift job, eight hours a day. And although I wouldn’t be able to do it just a couple of times a month, my replacement would have to be solved even then. We had a good chat and he offered to come up with something. I don’t know what he’s thinking yet…

The actor also revealed that his pension was raised to HUF 150,000, and although there are many people who live on less than that, he still wants to work.

In 2010, Balázs Galkó, who was previously sought after as a dubbing actor, also looked for work in a classified ad posted at the Film Review, and in 2023 he stated that he would take on any job, be it reciting poetry, acting as an extra, organizing a family holiday, babysitting or even dog walking.
