The security director Reto Nause from Stadtbern has no understanding for the action: “This kind of protest is associated with massive risks for the demonstrators.”
What prompted the 68-year-old from Bern to take part in this illegal action? “I think the whole measure was exaggerated,” says Dürrenmatt to the VIEW. «I have learned from many sides that the hospitals are half empty. Meanwhile, people who are not affected by Corona have to wait for much-needed surgery. » You yourself have acquaintances who are in this situation. “If the virus were really that dangerous, the hospitals would be full!”
–
What Dürrenmatt forgets in the process: The hospitals and medical practices were empty, among other things, because the Federal Council’s measures slowed down the infections – and so the hospitals, unlike in Italy, were not overloaded. In addition, many patients stayed at home for fear of catching the virus in the hospital.

Security director Nause is irritated by the action
The security director Reto Nause from Stadtbern was irritated by the rally after the rally against the news agency SDA. “My heart is bleeding from an epidemiological point of view,” he said. “This type of protest is associated with massive risks for the demonstrators.” He assumed that there were infections.

Dürrenmatt says that she is also not completely free of fear in connection with the corona virus. But it is not an option to simply overrun civil rights such as freedom of assembly. «I’m more afraid of a state that is censoring. If you don’t respect laws, freedom of expression and human rights, it will be dangerous. »

Demand for the measures to be lifted
The police officers were very decent and patient, says Dürrenmatt. Ultimately, however, it was the officials who “crammed” the demonstrators. “Although the situation is said to be so dangerous.” She doesn’t understand that. “I was caught there with the rollator.”
–
Dürrenmatt demands that the corona measures are now all lifted. “Last but not least, it’s also about causing enormous economic damage.” She wanted to express that at the Saturday rally. “After all, I pay taxes, so I don’t let my opinion be forbidden.”

Crowds of people as sources of infection
According to the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), there are a total of 30,380 laboratory-confirmed corona cases and 1,561 deaths related to a Sars-Cov-2 infection throughout Switzerland. The Website corona-data.ch, which operates with numbers from the cantons, has 30,180 infections and 1846 deceased Covid-19 patients.

Since April 27, 2020, the hospitals have been allowed to carry out all procedures and receive outpatients again. The utilization of the Zurich University Hospital (USZ) is now 80 percent. There are currently 21 Covid-19 patients in the USZ, including 9 in the intensive care unit.
