Pensions will increase by 7 percent in March 2022. The government decided that the indexation rate would be higher than it would result from the regulations in force so far. Such a high indexation index is, among other things, a reaction to the very high inflation in Poland, which – according to estimates – exceeded 9% in January! How the March increases will translate into specific pensions. Calculations of exemplary benefits after indexation are available in the gallery. We start with the minimum pension.
The level of indexation this year may have surprised some. The government opted for a higher coefficient of what country budget will cost an additional PLN 3.4 billion. The money will go to retirees, whose benefits will be indexed – as every year – in March.

If we stick to the regulations in force so far, the benefits would increase by 5.7%. However, the government decided that the indexation index in 2022 will be higher and will amount to 7%.

Taking into account the macroeconomic indicators announced by the President of the Central Statistical Office, i.e. the inflation rate in 2021 and the real increase in the average salary in 2021, at 20% share of the real increase in wages and salaries in the indexation index – the indexation of old-age and disability pensions in 2022 would be at the level of 105.7%.
