TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn captured the public attention with his luxurious lifestyle. Last week, he was found leaving for Germany with a large entourage. As many as 250 staff and 30 of his favorite poodle dogs took part.
Maha Vajiralongkorn ascended the throne to succeed his father King Bhumibol Adulyadej in October 2016. Since then he has spent more time in Europe. Even during the Corona pandemic, he was there more often, angering the Thai people.
So where is the wealth of the King of Thailand who can afford his luxurious lifestyle?
According to Al Jazeera, Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn inherited Bangkok’s top real estate assets, including Siam Commercial Bank.
The royal family does not openly report their wealth. However, after the death of his father, Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn is the heir to the Bhumibol estate which was published on 17 June 2018.
“All royal property assets will be transferred and returned to His Majesty’s possession, so that they may be governed and managed at His Majesty’s discretion,” said a note prominently emblazoned on the front page of the Crown Property Bureau (CPB) website in 2018.
According to analysis, King Thailand including the 10 richest kings in the world. His assets range from US$ 30-60 billion.
Most of that wealth is controlled by the CPB. Its portfolio is spread across property and investment of large companies.
CPB’s most prominent assets are real estate in Bangkok, including Siam Commercial Bank and major building materials conglomerate, Siam Cement Group.
