Besides family affairs, there were also affairs of state for Vajiralongkorn. In the Dusit Palace, six new ministers of the government of General Prayut Chan-o-cha took the oath before the royal couple. The king ordered the cabinet to ensure “order and peace,” but made no mention of recent student protests against both the government and – unheard of in Thailand’s modern history – the king.
The king visited the temple of the emerald Buddha with his current family, including the Bavarian son Prince Dipangkorn (15), then the temple of the emerald Buddha, and also attended the tribute to his mother on the Sanam Luang field next to the Grand Palace. There was also carefully selected audience available to cheer on the royal company, sitting or kneeling.
According to the leaked flight schedule of the special Thai Airways flight to Zurich, the company would depart around 2 a.m. Wednesday night.
